Corporate Volunteering at Miles & More
We not only support Corporate Volunteering, but also want to actively motivate our employees to get involved in social engagement. The central pillar of our social commitment is help alliance, the aid organisation of the Lufthansa Group and its employees. It provides young people around the world with access to education, enabling them to lead a self-determined life.
In June 2023, for example, twelve Miles & More colleagues travelled to Kenya. Their destination: a children’s home near Nairobi. There they met 14 former street children who had finished school and were about to embark on their careers. Our vocational mentors were able to identify the youngsters’ career aspirations and work out potential next steps. The visit proved life-changing for everyone involved.
For this project, the Miles & More colleagues prepared teaching units such as the basics of project management, explored the slum of Ngong together with the boys, bought groceries from the local market and cooked traditional dishes together. Everyone was able to benefit and learn a lot from one another.
